ResiCor is Vapor corrosion Inhibitor Additive. It is Anti-corrosion Additive use to prevent corrosion on metal surfaces.
Corrosion is the process of oxidizing ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces, which occurs in the presence of oxygen and moisture. The corrosive effects are accelerated in acidic environments. However, the formation of oxide layer on the surface can provide a natural protection for the metal. Unfortunately, corrosion not only damages the mechanical properties of metals but also leads to significant global economic losses.
Preventing contact between metals and either oxygen or moisture can effectively avoid corrosion.
VCIs are used as additives to packaging materials, including paper and plastic. The presence of anti-corrosion chemicals protects the packaged items from corrosion. The packaging is common for automotive, steel, metal, and military packaging.
ResiCor complies and passes the following standards:
ResiCor is compatible with Polyolefins, PLA and PBAT with recommended dosage of 1500 ppm to 10,000 ppm, depending upon the protection required.
Corrosion inhibitors prevent corrosion by creating a barrier of protection on the metal surface, which prevents the corrosion reaction. ResiCor monomeric molecular layer on the metal surface stops oxygen and water from interacting with the metal and causing corrosion. After the packaging is opened to use the metal components, the actives diffuse into the air.
These vapor inhibitor additives are used in films and paper used for packing metal components used in defense, infrastructure, automobile, railways, aviation, industrial components, etc.
