NoStat is an Anti-Static Additive. It reduces the generation of static charge on the surface of polymers. It can be used as a masterbatch during polymer processing like blow moulding, extrusion of films, pharmaceutical packaging, etc. to prevent fire hazards due to the generation of static charges.
Static electricity refers to the buildup of electric charges on the surface of materials. It occurs when certain materials, like polymers, gain or lose electrons, creating an electrical imbalance. In polymer processing, static electricity can cause sparks or electrical discharges that have the potential to ignite flammable substances, such as gases or dust particles. Effective control of static charges is necessary for polymer processing, given the widespread use of polymers in industries such as packaging, electronics, automotive, and textiles.
NoStat is an effective solution for safe polymer processing without damaging the end polymer product properties.
NoStat is compatible with all Polyolefins and recommended dosage of 2000 to 5000 ppm in final application.
When an Anti-static Additive is incorporated with a polymer matrix, the Additive migrates to the surface to provide an anti-static effect. The mechanism of Anti-static Additive is based on the difference between the polar head of Anti-static Additive and the non-polar characteristic of Polyolefins. The additive migrates to the surface of the Polyolefins and the polar segment appears at the surface. The polar head attracts moisture from the environment and a molecular water layer is formed at the surface. Water is an excellent static electricity scavenger. This moisture accumulation helps to dissipate the static charge. Thus, problems like static discharge, sticking of film layers to each other and dust accumulation are avoided. This phenomenon can be observed after 36 to 72 hours after the film has been blown as the additive takes time to diffuse to the surface.
